Menopause is that period in a woman's life when periods stop completely.This is not if it stops for 3 months or 5 months.It should be 12 months in a row.Any bleeding which occurs after this period of 12 months, be it spotting or be it heavy bleeding is not normal.You need to see gynecologist immediately.

After examining, gynecologist may ask for ultrasound scan of pelvis.Depending on that finding, patient will be advised for biopsy of uterine lining and depending on the biopsy result patient will be advised for either a short course of hormonal treatment or surgery.
